Ready Meals are Evil

All ready meals are evil... even M&S ready meals.

Last week one of my colleagues in Team Logistics bought some ready meals from M&S to heat up for lunch because they were on special offer for buy one get one 1/2 price. I think he had the macaroni cheese and it smelt really nice.

So yesterday morning, I decided that I wanted something hot and tasty for lunch, so I popped into M&S on the way to work and bought myself a been cannelloni and spaghetti bolognaise from their ready meal selection. It came to a bargainous £2.98, and I could hardly wait for lunchtime to arrive.

Lunchtime came. There was a long queue for the microwave. In this cold weather, everyone seems to want to stay in at lunchtime and heat up leftovers from dinner the night before. I take my place in the queue for the microwave and eventually finish nuking my beef cannelloni and take it back to my desk so that I can eat and surf at the same time. The beef cannelloni was nice, but it filled me up too much (and it wasn't even a huge portion). I dread to think how many calories it contained and I'm sure it had lots of msg in it. I felt completely stuffed and really lethargic for the rest of the afternoon. So much so that I had to forgo dinner in the evening.

I still have the spaghetti bolognaise in the fridge at work, but I can't face the thought of eating another ready meal so soon, so I'm going to leave it and eat it for lunch on Monday instead.
